The Law School at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) traces its roots to the Department of Law under the then School of English, which began enrolling students in September 2001. The Law School was formally established in September 2006.
The school is home to several specialized research centers, including the Center for Comparative Legislative Studies, the Center for International Dispute Resolution, the Center for Anglo-American Law Studies, the Center for Intellectual Property Law, the Center for Education Law, the Center for International Integrity and Rule of Law, the Center for China-Africa Legal Studies, and the Center for Personal Bankruptcy Law.
Over the years, the Law School has developed a distinctive curriculum framework consisting of three core modules: Chinese Law (bilingual), Anglo-American Law (English), and Anglo-American Language and Culture. To support these modules, the school has assembled a highly qualified and internationally oriented faculty team. As of the end of 2024, the Law School employs 33 full-time faculty and staff members, including 29 full-time academic staff and four administrative personnel. Among the academic staff, there are 10 professors, nine associate professors, and 10 lecturers. Twenty-nine faculty members hold doctoral degrees. In addition, the school has appointed four long-term and two short-term foreign experts.
The Law School maintains close partnerships with prestigious law schools worldwide, regularly sending faculty members abroad for academic exchanges and conducting joint student exchange programs. It also collaborates extensively with courts, law firms, companies, and other organizations, engaging in Party building, internships, and research initiatives. These collaborations have led to the development of distinctive platforms for both academic research and hands-on legal training.
The school offers master's programs in several primary disciplines, including Jurisprudence, Constitutional and Administrative Jurisprudence, Criminal Law, Civil and Commercial Law, and International Law. Since 2016, it has offered a doctoral program in International Law and Regional Governance. In addition, the school began enrolling Juris Master students in 2019.
