The Uruguayan Ambassador to China, Aníbal Cabral, visited Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) on March 27 and was welcomed by Liu Xinlu, vice-president of BFSU.

Liu fondly recalled the vibrant atmosphere during Uruguayan President Yamandu Orsi's visit to BFSU in February and expressed gratitude for the embassy's long-term support. He emphasized BFSU's commitment to fostering friendly relations with the Uruguayan government, its embassy, universities, and research institutions. He also expressed hope for continued exploration of practical cooperation in various fields and the cultivation of young ambassadors to promote China-Uruguay friendship.
Ambassador Cabral thanked BFSU for their warm reception. He highlighted that youth exchanges are heartfelt dialogues that transcend words and touch the spirit. President Orsi's visit to BFSU sparked enthusiastic responses, showcasing the immense potential and broad prospects for cooperation in cultural and educational fields between the two countries. Cabral expressed confidence that, through joint efforts, young students will contribute to building a closer China-Uruguay community with a shared future.

During his visit, Ambassador Cabral delivered a lecture on "Bridging borders: The value of Uruguay-China bilateral relations" to BFSU faculty and students. He detailed the steadily developing partnership since the establishment of diplomatic relations, underscoring China's importance as Uruguay's largest trading partner.
Cabral engaged warmly with students, answering questions on language learning experiences, the prospects of China-Uruguay relations, and Uruguayan social and cultural characteristics. He encouraged BFSU students to become bridges between the two countries, deepening mutual understanding through language and culture, and paving the way for a broader future in China-Uruguay relations.
