Addressing the event, Yu Changxue, director of the CCIPE, highlighted the significance of the yearbook, describing it as a faithful record of the development of China–foreign people-to-people exchange.

Yu said the yearbook should continue to demonstrate its function and value, uphold the philosophy of people-to-people exchange, and promote mutual learning and understanding between China and other countries and regions in their respective fields of foreign engagement. It should serve as an important historical document, supporting education, teaching and analytical research.

He also encouraged sustained cooperation with friends from all walks of life to implement more effective exchange initiatives, and actively integrate into the new landscape of educational opening-up and the building of a strong education system.

Zhao Gang, a member of the standing committee of the CPC BFSU committee and vice-president of the university, said that 2021 and 2022 were extraordinary years, marked by events that profoundly impacted the international landscape. As the world undergoes unprecedented transformations, the yearbook provides a systematic record and analysis of trends, achievements and challenges in China–foreign people-to-people exchange, he said.

Chief Editor Zhang Chaoyi gave an overview of the publication, including its compilation process, main content and highlights. This edition includes new sections such as case studies and major events, and features foreign language annotations to aid international readers, further enhancing its utility as a reference work, Zhang said.

Published biennially, the Yearbook of China–Foreign People-to-People Exchange has released its third volume. The latest edition presents a comprehensive account of the practical efforts in China–foreign people-to-people exchange within the global context from 2021 to 2022.

The book aims to document the development and achievements of high-level exchange mechanisms and initiatives across various sectors, support national strategies, contribute to academic research and talent development, and enhance people-to-people connectivity and mutual learning among civilizations. It seeks to contribute Chinese wisdom and strength to the integrated development of Chinese and foreign cultures.
