Jia Wenjian has been appointed president of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and deputy secretary of the university's Party committee, the Ministry of Education announced on April 26.

Yang Dan will no longer hold the position of president and deputy secretary of the Party committee of BFSU.

Born in June 1967, Jia has received postgraduate education and holds a doctoral degree. He is a member of the Communist Party of China and holds a professorship. Previously, he served as deputy secretary of the Party committee and vice-president of BFSU.
