BFSU establishes Malaysian Alumni Association for International Students

The inauguration ceremony of the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) Malaysian Alumni Association for International Students was held at the Confucius Institute of the University of Malaya on Aug 6.

The event brought together esteemed guests including Zhao Changtao, education counselor of the Chinese embassy in Malaysia, Jia Wenjian, deputy secretary of the CPC BFSU committee and vice-president of the university, and Zhu Li, director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Malaya, as well as representatives of BFSU and the Confucius Institute and Malaysian alumni of BFSU, who witnessed the establishment of the alumni association.

Zhao warmly congratulated the BFSU Malaysian Alumni Association for International Students on its establishment. He expressed his hope that members of the association will shine in their respective fields, promote exchanges, mutual learning and people-to-people bonds between China and Malaysia, and contribute to the lasting friendship between the two nations. 

The embassy will continue to encourage China-Malaysia educational cooperation, enhance communication and interaction with the alumni association, and guide the people of both countries to continue their friendship, support each other, and work hand in hand as close partners in the path of mutual development, said the counselor.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative and the 10th anniversary of the China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership, and the two countries will usher in the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations next year, Jia said, adding that the founding of the Malaysian Alumni Association for International Students at this juncture is of great significance. 

Jia expressed his hope that the association will strengthen connections and collaborations among Malaysian alumni of BFSU, as well as between Malaysian and Chinese alumni of the university in Malaysia, and contribute to the development of Chinese language education in Malaysia and the prosperity of their alma mater.
