Jia Dezhong attends conference of Southeast Asian Confucius Institutes

The Joint Conference of Southeast Asian Confucius Institutes was convened in Beijing from July 20 to 21. 

Themed on "Collaborative Innovation, Steady Development”, the conference hosted nearly 300 esteemed academic figures and delegates from Confucius Institutes, Confucius Classrooms and cooperating institutions from 10 Southeast Asian countries.

Among the distinguished attendees was Jia Dezhong, a member of the standing committee of the CPC committee of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and vice-president of the university.

BFSU, as a partner institution in cooperation with Southeast Asian Confucius Institutes, participated in group discussions during the event. Representatives from the university engaged in insightful exchanges, sharing experiences on managing Confucius Institutes and envisioning their development prospects within the Southeast Asian region.

An exhibition on international Chinese language education resources was also held during the conference. BFSU, together with the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, were invited as special guests, showcasing a wide range of international Chinese language education materials and related resources. 

BFSU's Overseas Students Affairs Office organized promotional activities for overseas students who aspire to study at the university, which demonstrated its commitment to Confucius Institute development, international Chinese language education, student cultivation and strengths in publication and distribution.
