A team headed by the First Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Bakhanovich, visited Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) on July 12.

Wang Dinghua, secretary of the CPC BFSU committee, welcomed the team and introduced the friendly exchanges between the university and the Belarusian embassy in China, as well as its collaborative achievements with Minsk State Linguistic University (MSLU) in talent cultivation, textbook compilation, faculty training and academic research in the Belarusian language.

When education flourishes, the nation prospers, said Wang, adding that BFSU is willing to strengthen cooperation and work hand in hand with relevant institutions in Belarus to contribute to Sino-Belarusian friendship.

In terms of disciplinary construction, Wang said that BFSU is ready to leverage its strengths in multilingual talent cultivation and region and area studies to provide high-quality services for the activities held by the China-Belarus University Alliance.

Bakhanovich affirmed the importance of Sino-Belarusian educational collaboration and praised the efforts made by the governments and universities of the two countries in promoting student exchange programs, organizing academic activities and establishing research centers, which have built a solid platform for cultural exchanges and intellectual cooperation.

As a member of the visiting team, Natalia Lapteva, rector of MSLU, introduced the achievements made by the university in language teaching and translation theory and practice since its establishment.

The university is eager to continue its cooperation with BFSU in Belarusian language teaching and translation talent training, according to Lapteva.
