Confucius Institute in Krakow holds council meeting

Addressing the meeting, Jia Wenjian, deputy secretary of the CPC committee of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and vice-president of the university, praised the outcomes yielded by the institute in the past year. He also thanked Jagiellonian University, as well as the Polish council members and all the staff at the Confucius Institute.

Taking the Confucius Institute in Krakow as a bridge to conduct comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in disciplines, talent cultivation, scientific research and resource sharing, BFSU is willing to work with Jagiellonian University to further promote educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Poland.

Dorota Malec, vice-rector of Jagiellonian University, acknowledged the work done by the institute over the past year and expressed her gratitude to BFSU, the Chinese and Polish council members, and directors of the institute for their efforts in the orderly development of the Confucius Institute.

Malec praised the achievements made by BFSU in the construction of its Polish language programs. She stated that Jagiellonian University and BFSU have made significant contributions to promoting cultural understanding between China and Poland, with the Confucius Institute serving as an important platform for cooperation. She expressed her hope that the two universities will further deepen and broaden communication and collaboration.

During the meeting, the council listened to the Confucius Institute’s work report for 2022 and its work plan for this year. It reviewed and approved the minutes of the previous council meeting and provided suggestions regarding the focal points and plans for this year.

Established in September 2006, the Confucius Institute in Krakow is the first of its kind in Poland and a globally recognized Model Confucius Institute. The institute, jointly launched by BFSU and Jagiellonian University, is dedicated to Chinese language teaching and the promotion of Chinese culture. It has contributed to cultural diversity in the local community and has been highly welcomed by the local people.
