Team from Jagiellonian University visits BFSU

Adam Wacław Jelonek, director of the Institute of the Middle and Far East at Jagiellonian University, led a team to visit Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) on March 21. 

Zhao Gang, a member of the standing committee of the CPC BFSU committee and vice-president of the university, met with the team.

Zhao said that BFSU has maintained friendly cooperation with Jagiellonian University over the years and the Confucius Institute in Krakow jointly established by the two sides was the first Confucius Institute in Poland. It has become a model Confucius Institute across the globe and is one of the best Confucius Institutes in Poland and even in Central and Eastern Europe.

In recent years, BFSU has conducted multi-tiered and all-round exchanges and cooperation with Jagiellonian University in disciplinary construction, talent cultivation, scientific research and resource sharing, achieving mutual benefits and win-win results, Zhao added.

Zhao briefed the team members on the development of the Polish language program at BFSU and invited them to visit the university again during the 70th anniversary celebrations of the establishment of its Polish language major. 

Jelonek talked about the recent development at Jagiellonian University and expressed his pleasure in visiting BFSU.

Since the joint establishement of the Confucius Institute in Krakow in 2006, the two universities have deepened their ties and formed a strong friendship, he said.

Jelonek proposed to expand areas of cooperation in the new historical period of China-Poland relations.

The two universities also discussed exchange programs for both teachers and students and joint training projects.
