The Blue Book of Australia: Annual Report on Development of Australia (2022) was released online on Dec 21 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Sino-Australian relations.
The release ceremony was hosted by Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and the Social Sciences Academic Press (SSAP), undertaken by the BFSU Centre for Australian Studies at the School of English and International Studies, and co-organized by the Australian Division of the Chinese Association of Asia-Pacific Studies and the Academy of Regional and Global Governance at BFSU.

Sun Youzhong, a member of the standing committee of the CPC BFSU committee, vice-president of the university and editor-in-chief of the annual report, delivered a speech and introduced the Annual Report on Development of Australia (2022).
Those making remarks at the ceremony included Wang Limin, president of the SSAP, Ruan Zezong, consul-general of China in Brisbane, Luo Lin, director of the Country and Regional Research Secretariat under the Ministry of Education, Wang Yuzhu, secretary-general of the Chinese Association of Asia-Pacific Studies, Chen Hong, president of the Australian Division of the association, Li Youwen, deputy director of the Academy of Regional and Global Governance at BFSU, and Han Feng, editor-in-chief of the annual report.
Subsequent to the release ceremony presided over by Zhang Jian, dean of the School of English and International Studies at BFSU, a meeting was held to solicit contributions for the Annual Report on Development of Australia (2023) and the Chinese Journal of Australian Studies.

The annual report, organized and compiled by the Centre for Australian Studies at the School of English and International Studies of BFSU, focused on the governance and policy implementation of the previous government of Scott Morrison from 2020 to 2021.
It analyzed in detail the internal adjustments adopted by the ruling coalition and the opposition parties in preparation for the 2022 Australian federal election, the restructuring of the government's policies in the political, economic, diplomatic and social fields, and the latest trends in Australian society and China-Australia relations.
The blue book includes a general report, sub-reports, special reports and chapters on the China-Australia relationship to offer a panoramic view of Australia and Sino-Australian ties from 2020 to 2021.
