The Seventh Chinese Strategic Development Symposium on Ecolinguistics was held via video link on June 18.
The event was hosted by the Ecolinguistics Professional Committee at the China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese (CACSEC), together with the National Research Centre for State Language Capacity (NRCSLC) and the National Research Centre for Foreign Language Education at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). It was undertaken by the School of Foreign Languages at Guizhou Normal University (GZNU), NRCSLC Guizhou base and the Guizhou Society of English Education and Research with the support of Foreign Languages in China and Journal of World Languages.

The virtual conference brought together over 170 experts, scholars and graduate students from universities and research institutes across the country.
The following academicians -- Yi Yin, member of the CPC GZNU committee and vice-president of the university, Huang Guowen, honorary president of the CACSEC Ecolinguistics Professional Committee, editor-in-chief of Foreign Languages in China and dean of the School of Foreign Studies at South China Agricultural University, and Wang Wenbin, honorary president of the CACSEC Ecolinguistics Professional Committee and head of the NRCSLC and the National Research Centre for Foreign Language Education at BFSU -- gave speeches at the opening ceremony.
Experts from renowned universities in China talked about theories and practices of ecolinguistics and the integration between ecolinguistics and other disciplines.
The roundtable forum had a discussion on the following topics: the systematic building of ecolinguistics, the combination and development of ecolinguistics and other disciplines, the innovation and development of ecolinguistics theories and practices, curricular building and talent cultivation in the discipline.
At the closing ceremony, Miao Xingwei, vice-president of the CACSEC Ecolinguistics Professional Committee, hailed the organizers’ contributions and expressed thanks to the participants.
