BFSU commends volunteers who served in the Winter Games

A summary and commendation conference of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games was held at the Shougang Industrial Park in Beijing on April 19.

Yang Dan, deputy Party secretary of the CPC committee of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and president of the university, and 20 volunteer representatives for the Games attended the event.

The conference summarized successful experiences during the Games and commended advanced groups and individuals. 

BFSU voluntary service team and the Beijing 2022 multilingual call center were titled advanced groups for the Games. Two volunteers from the university, Liu Zhipeng and Yewen Xiaoyu, were honored as advanced individuals.

Awards were presented to the winners and Yewen went on stage to receive the award as the representative for the advanced volunteers.

BFSU has sent 900 volunteers to serve the 10 competition zones in urban Beijing and Zhangjiakou, as well as the 13 non-competition venues such as three Winter Olympic villages, Medals Plazas, the headquarters of the Beijing organizing committee, the Main Media Center, the Zhangjiakou Mountain Broadcasting Center and contracted hotels during the Games.

Mainly constructed by BFSU, the multilingual call center provided language services for 91 and 46 delegations during the Olympics and Paralympics, respectively.

The first BFSU volunteers took up their posts on Dec 20, 2021, and all volunteers from the university finished their tasks on March 16 and returned on April 7.
