The Sixth National Symposium on Ecolinguistics hosted by the National Research Centre for Foreign Language Education, the National Research Center for State Language Capacity and China Association of Ecolinguistics at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) was held from Oct 9 to 10.
With the theme “research on ecolinguistics and construction of ecological civilization”, the online forum attracted more than 300 experts and scholars from over 160 universities and scientific research institutions.
Scholars and experts exchange views at the Sixth National Symposium on Ecolinguistics from Oct 9 to 10.
Twelve professors from renowned universities, including Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing Normal University, Xiamen University and BFSU, gave keynote speeches on ecolinguistics and language studies, teaching research, as well as the Hogan approach, Halliday approach and integrated approach within the domain of ecolinguistics. Their speeches reflected the current development of the discipline and their explorations on frontier issues.
Following the speeches, 108 scholars exchanged views on such topics as “theoretical exploration on ecolinguistics”, “ecological discourse analysis: energy discourse”, “ecological discourse analysis: literary discourse”, “ecological discourse analysis: media discourse”, “ecolinguistics and translation studies”, “ecolinguistics and teaching research” and “studies on language ecology and language policies”.
The forum showcased the academic circle’s active response to China’s major strategy for improving ecological awareness, devoting to ecological practice and contributing to the construction of ecological civilization.
