A joint training program aimed at cultivating undergraduate students with knowledge of both English language and legal matters involving foreign parties was formally launched at a ceremony held in the library of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) on September 5, 2021.
Jia Wenjian, deputy secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) BFSU Committee and vice president of the university, presided over the inaugural ceremony.
The joint bachelor's degree training program was co-organized by BFSU and the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL).
The program drew the attendance of 30 freshmen from the two universities. They are expected to study at their own universities in the first and fourth years, BFSU in the second year and CUPL in the third year of their academic studies.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Yang Dan, deputy secretary of the CPC BFSU Committee and president of the university, highlighted the fine educational resources held by the two universities in the implementation of the joint training program.
Yang noted that the two universities will strengthen their cooperation on talent education in English language and foreign-related legal affairs, and will be able to make positive contributions to further increase China's influence in international legal affairs and global governance.
Yang urged participants of the joint training program to engage in the building of law-based governance and a community with a shared future for mankind, as well as the promotion of global governance.

Ma Huaide, vice secretary of the CPC CUPL Committee and the university's president, said it is of great importance for the country to nurture a group of talents who have a global vision, a grasp of international rules, and who excel at handling international affairs. The cooperation between CUPL and BFSU is designed to fully utilize the two universities' educational resources, better resolve the shortage of relevant talents, and to further improve their English skills.
On the sidelines of the opening ceremony, the two universities held a working conference to ensure the smooth implementation of the joint training program.
