Gu Mingyuan, honorary president of the CSE and advisor of the CSE International Education Branch, Yang Yinfu, secretary-general of the CSE, Du Kewei, director of the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange of the Ministry of Education of China, Wang Dinghua, secretary of the Party Committee of BFSU and president of the International Education Branch, and Ding Hao and Zhao Gang, members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice presidents of BFSU attended the conference.
The event was also joined by Wang Fang, secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) Group and president of the FLTRP, representatives of the CSE International Education Branch, authors of the book series on the cultural education for Belt and Road countries, and experts and scholars in the field of international education research.
The conference was chaired by Ding.
The first board of directors of the CSE International Education Branch was selected at the conference. Wang Dinghua was appointed as the president; Ding, Ma Li, Wang Fang, Liu Huarong, Zou Zheng, Chen Haidong, Qin He, and Peng Shuangjie were appointed as vice-presidents; 35 people were made executive directors; Zhang Dongsheng was appointed as secretary-general; and Yuan Dayong and Li Guohui were made deputy secretaries-general.
A new book series on the cultural education for Belt and Road countries was released to the public at the conference.
Wang Dinghua gave a speech on Belt and Road education work and the future of international education.
Wang Dinghua stressed that the International Education Branch should focus on the top-level design of the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind; reinforce the training of international talents; strengthen China’s international education communication capabilities; and build a new platform for international education.
The branch should prioritize innovation and take the lead in the fields of academic research, services, practice, standards, and modes of international education, said Wang Dinghua.
It should also study the mainstream development trend of education around the world and adapt to the reform and development needs of China’s education system. The branch’s aim is to provide intellectual support and academic guidance for the development of international education in China.
Gu expressed his opinions on China’s international education. He said the education system in China needs to learn from advanced educational concepts, educational content and teaching methods across the world, and strengthen traditional Chinese cultural education to cultivate students with global awareness and a strong pursuit for peace.
The building of the branch based in BFSU is necessary, as it will deepen and develop the international education research in China, Gu added.
Du congratulated the university on the establishment of the International Education Branch and the publication of the new book series.
Du said that the branch is a new force in cultural and educational exchanges between China and foreign countries. He suggested that international education should integrate the concept of people-to-people exchange, and take the expansion of students’ international vision as one of its important tasks. More cooperation should be conducted to boost international education and build an international education community.
Yang extended his congratulations on the establishment of the International Education Branch. It was at the right time, Yang added.
Yang shared the vision on orientation and development ideas of the branch in carrying out academic research, developing professional evaluation standards, promoting educational exchanges and cooperation, conducting teacher training, and the publicity of Chinese education.
Xie Weihe, former vice president of Tsinghua University and vice president of the CSE, and Wang Dianjun, principal of the high school affiliated to Tsinghua University, gave keynote reports on the new orientation of international education in China and the cultivation of students’ global competence through international education.

Under the leadership of the CSE, the branch will strive to gather strength and resources of international education research and practice, serve and promote the high-quality development of China’s international education, and become a link between industries, governments and international organizations.
