A press conference was held at the Confucius Temple and Guozijian (Imperial College) Museum in Beijing on May 24 to mark the inauguration of the first issue of a new journal titled International Studies on Confucianism.
The journal is jointly sponsored by the International Confucian Association (ICA) and Tsinghua University. It is the first official journal created by the ICA since it was founded 27 years ago.
As a founder of the English version of International Studies on Confucianism, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) will always stick to its founding mission, take into consideration the journal’s academic orientation and the need to improve it to better embrace the world so that it will be closely connected with social development and be accepted by more readers, and fully leverage its influence to inherit and spread traditional Chinese culture. BFSU will use the journal to tell abroad China’s stories, and to promote exchanges and mutual learning between different civilizations in the international community.
During the event, Liu Yandong, chairperson of the ICA, presented serial issue codes of the journal on behalf of the ICA to the National Library of China, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, BFSU and a number of other universities as well as institutes.
Those in attendance at the ceremony included Wang Meng, honorary chairperson of the ICA, Yang Dan, deputy secretary of the CPC Committee and president of BFSU, Zhang Chaoyi, president of the Academy for International Communication of Chinese Culture of BFSU, and Wang Fang, head of the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.
