International Sinology was founded in 1995 by renowned scholar Ren Jiyu and is hosted by Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). At present, it is the only official professional journal in China dedicated to the study of Sinology (China Studies). 

Regular columns of the journal primarily include: Special Section, Significance of Chinese Civilization in the World, Sinologists’ Specialization, Studies on Literature and History, Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchanges, Sinological Studies of Various Countries, Chinese Classics Overseas, Bibliography Studies, and Scholars and Book Reviews. 

The journal was included twice in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) source collection catalog (2012-13 and 2014-15) and is now indexed as a CSSCI source journal.
