BFSU holds Inaugural Undergraduate Academic Innovation Forum

Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) held its Inaugural Undergraduate Academic Innovation Forum on May 11, creating a platform to inspire scholarly exploration and academic excellence among undergraduate students.

At the opening ceremony, Liu Xinlu, a member of the standing committee of the CPC BFSU committee and vice-president of the university, emphasized the university’s unwavering commitment to its core mission of moral education and talent cultivation. It has also placed great emphasis on fostering top-tier, interdisciplinary and innovative talents.

Developing world-class undergraduate education and comprehensively enhancing the quality of independent talent cultivation are essential pathways for the university’s sustainable development, Liu noted, adding that the forum aims to stimulate innovative thinking, strengthen academic training, enhance research literacy and encourage students to actively engage in scholarly research.

The forum received positive responses, with submissions from 18 undergraduate teaching units at BFSU and contributions from undergraduates at 12 other universities, including Peking University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University and Beijing Institute of Technology. Nearly 260 papers were submitted, with 67 passing the final review. Among them, 30 outstanding submissions were selected for oral presentation during the forum.

The academic event included a main forum featuring paper presentations and a commentary session, as well as four parallel sub-forums focusing on global language and culture studies, global governance, translation and AI empowerment and telling China’s story well.

The Inaugural Undergraduate Academic Innovation Forum created a vibrant academic environment and provided a valuable platform for students to showcase their scholarly potential. It marks an important step in enhancing the academic innovation capacity of undergraduates and advancing high-quality undergraduate education. Looking ahead, BFSU plans to further promote educational and teaching reform and offer more academic activities, laying a strong foundation for cultivating top-tier, innovative talents.
