The Beijing-Hong Kong Universities Alliance Council Annual Meeting 2024 took place in Beijing on Dec 10, bringing together senior members and scholars from the Ministry of Education, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and numerous universities and educational institutions in Hong Kong.

The event aimed to further promote collaboration and development within the alliance, fostering discussions on talent cultivation, joint research and educational resource sharing.
As a key member of the alliance, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) participated in the meeting to contribute insights and expertise to Beijing-Hong Kong educational cooperation. Zhao Gang, a member of the standing committee of the CPC BFSU committee and vice-president of the university, attended the event.

During the thematic forum, Zhao provided an overview of BFSU's engagement in promoting Beijing-Hong Kong educational collaboration in 2024. He elaborated on the university’s distinctive advantages in disciplinary development, language service capabilities and talent cultivation.
Zhao said BFSU will continue to strengthen ties with Hong Kong universities, focusing on research innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration and cultural exchanges, to facilitate the complementarity and sharing of educational resources.
The university will foster synergy with Hong Kong universities in talent cultivation, academic research and cultural inheritance. By doing so, BFSU aims to support the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and advance the nation’s educational goals, said Zhao.
The annual meeting, themed “Opportunities, Challenges and Win-Win Cooperation: Beijing-Hong Kong Universities Exchange and Cooperation under New Circumstances”, featured extensive discussions on deepening educational cooperation, boosting research innovation and integrating educational resources.
The meeting reviewed the alliance’s work report for this year and outlined the work plan for the coming year, defining future cooperation priorities and key tasks. Additionally, discussions on the Measures for New Membership in the Beijing-Hong Kong Universities Alliance (Draft) provided valuable insights for the alliance’s sustainable development.
