SOAS director visits BFSU

Adam Habib, director of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London, visited Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) on March 12. Wang Dinghua, secretary of the CPC BFSU committee, and Jia Wenjian, deputy secretary of the CPC BFSU committee and vice-president of the university, met with Habib and his delegation.

During the meeting, Wang introduced BFSU’s disciplinary development and international exchanges. He emphasized that international cooperation is essential for enhancing educational quality and nurturing innovative talents. 

BFSU and the SOAS are top institutions in language teaching and research in their respective countries and their collaboration holds significant meaning and broad prospects. Over the years, the two sides have maintained cooperation in country and area studies, student exchanges and faculty training, Wang said.

Wang expressed his hope that the meeting would further deepen partnership in such fields as collaborative education as well as joint training and research.

Habib briefed the participants on the basic information about the SOAS. He acknowledged the importance of multinational cooperation in addressing the numerous challenges facing the world today. 

He expressed the SOAS’s willingness to work with BFSU to fully leverage their strengths and comprehensively promote teaching and research cooperation. Together, they aim to explore innovative paths for youth development and contribute solutions to global challenges.

Subsequent to the meeting, Wang and Habib signed an agreement on a cooperative master's program.
