Wang Dinghua attends ‘My Story with China’ Chinese Story Short Video General Display

Wang Dinghua, secretary of the CPC Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) committee, attended the First Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei ASEAN International Students “My Story with China” Chinese Story Short Video General Display at Tianjin Normal University on Jan 6.

Addressing the event, Wang said that “My Story with China” contributes to global cooperation, introducing the world to China and vice versa and promoting mutual learning between Chinese culture and world civilizations. 

He expressed BFSU's commitment to strengthening international Chinese education and facilitating global exchanges to showcase diverse world civilizations with international students from various countries.

During the video selection, students of the university's School of Chinese Language and Literature who come from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Myanmar won multiple prizes for their outstanding Chinese language skills, dazzling talent performances and moving stories.

In addition to the awards, 18 overseas BFSU students presented a spectacular song and dance performance, which blended traditional and modern elements, showcasing the diverse cultures of ASEAN countries and expressing their happiness and achievements in studying in Beijing. 

The “My Story with China” event, spanning eight months, attracted over 3,000 teachers and students to participate, and received 306 short video works. The selected pieces gained widespread online exposure, with 50 videos featured in 10 episodes, garnering over 100,000 views and more than 20,000 votes. 

The display concluded with the recognition of 10 Youth Elites, 10 Youth Talents, 20 Stars of Style and 32 Stars of Future. 

The event, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education's Center for Language Education and Cooperation and the ASEAN-China Centre and co-organized by Tianjin Normal University, BFSU and Hebei Normal University, aimed to deepen the understanding of ASEAN students studying in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in regard to China's contemporary society, as well as to expose them to the dynamic practices of Chinese modernization and the changes brought about by the new era. 

Government officials, university leaders, minister-counsellors and education counsellors from ASEAN counties, and more than 1,000 teachers and students participated in the Chinese story short video general display.
