BFSU co-hosts Forum on International Communication of Chinese Culture

The 2023 Forum on International Communication of Chinese Culture convened in Beijing on Sept 22. Themed "implementing the Global Civilization Initiative towards greater progress of human civilizations", the event attracted nearly 400 renowned experts and professionals in the cultural and international communication sectors from both China and abroad.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Yang Dan, president of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and deputy secretary of the CPC BFSU committee, emphasized the importance of grasping the current trends and characteristics of global civilization development. 

Yang called for efforts to develop country and area studies, integrate China's stance with international perspectives, bridge historical and contemporary Chinese studies, and actively collaborate with global scholars.

The forum featured two roundtable discussions, focusing on creation and overseas communication of contemporary Chinese literary and artistic works and Chinese culture from a global perspective. They explored the international dissemination of Chinese culture. 

The discussions were chaired by Zhang Chaoyi, director of the BFSU Academy of International Communication of Chinese Culture. 

Zhang voiced the need for collective efforts from various stakeholders to address the complex and ever-changing international situation. Promoting human civilizations towards a better future is the ultimate goal of this forum, Zhang said. She also underscored the significance of diverse participation and cultural exchanges in achieving this goal.

The forum was co-hosted by BFSU, the China International Communications Group and the Academy of Chinese Culture.
