They discussed opening simultaneous interpretation training courses and providing scholarships for international students.

Wang proposed strengthening interactions between the university’s Centre for Kazakhstan Studies and the Kazakh embassy in China, and inviting embassy staff members to visit the university to enhance China-Kazakhstan friendship.

The embassy will continue its support of BFSU’s cultivation of Kazakh language talents and the Centre for Kazakhstan Studies at the university, Nuryshev said, adding that he hopes more Kazakh graduates will devote themselves to the cooperation between China and Kazakhstan.

Following the meeting, the first national Kazakh language competition for foreign language majors was held. It was initiated by the Kazakh embassy in China, hosted by BFSU, and supported by and under the guidance of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges at the Ministry of Education.

Nuryshev and Wang addressed the opening ceremony of the competition, and Liu Jianqing, an official with the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, delivered an opening speech.

The competition was to select Kazakh language talents, strengthen exchanges among universities opening a Kazakh language major across the country, promote the development of Kazakh language education in China, and foster cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

The event drew the participation of Kazakh language majors from BFSU, Shanghai International Studies University, Xi'an International Studies University and Minzu University of China, and invited teachers from the four universities and staff members of the Kazakh embassy in China to serve as judges.

The competition featured two sessions of poetry recitations and a quiz on national conditions. Three students from BFSU won the first, second and third prizes.
