The two sides discussed the operation of the Beijing Multilingual Service Center, which provided services for both the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 and the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, volunteer recruitment for the Hangzhou Asian Games and the guarantee of voluntary services.

During the meeting, the HAGOC established cooperation with BFSU, officially setting up the Hangzhou Asian Games Multilingual Translation Hotline Service Center.

Multilingual translation hotline service is one of the major highlights of voluntary services in large-scale international sports events and conveys the warmth and hospitality of the host city, according to those who attended the meeting.

The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, postponed due to COVID-19, bring both challenges and opportunities, Xu said.

BFSU has rich experience in providing volunteer services for large-scale events and the Beijing Multilingual Service Center will undoubtedly be a major language services highlight at the Games, he noted.

Xu said that the HAGOC will continue to strengthen communication and work together with BFSU to present an exciting sports gala to Asia and the world.

The success of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 will be crucial not only for Hangzhou city and Zhejiang province, but also for the country as a whole, said Jia.

As the first higher education institution of foreign languages established by the Communist Party of China, BFSU will apply its inherited “Red gene” and give full play to its disciplinary strengths to provide language services and support the Hangzhou Asian Games, Jia added.
