2 universities hold talks to discuss modes of cooperation

Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and Renmin University of China (RUC) held an online meeting on May 17 to discuss the new mode for the inter-university cooperation.

The meeting was attended by officials from the two universities and presided over by Sun Youzhong, member of the standing committee of the CPC BFSU committee and vice-president of the university.

Yang Dan, deputy Party secretary of the CPC BFSU committee and president of the university, said BFSU and RUC have deep historical links, and the cooperation between the two is of great significance to form China’s independent knowledge system, train top-ranking talents with Chinese characteristics and explore innovative modes for in-depth cooperation among universities in China.

Yang explained BFSU’s strategic planning of fostering global academic collaboration, promoting interdisciplinarity and contributing to academic innovation globally.

BFSU and RUC aim to strengthen ties in such areas as talent training, scientific research and social services, Yang said.

Wang Yi, member of the standing committee of the CPC RUC committee and vice-president of the university, said RUC’s thorough cooperation with BFSU will be conducive to boosting discipline construction and academic research for both sides and cultivating well-rounded talents with international vision, cultural awareness and strong adaptability.

RUC will put forward concrete proposals and carry out practical cooperation with BFSU, Wang added.
