Confucius Classroom at Maryknoll School holds council meeting

The 2022 Council Meeting of the Confucius Classroom at Maryknoll School was held online on May 11. The meeting was attended by representatives from Maryknoll School, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and BFSU Foreign Languages School (BFLS).

Attendees deliberated over the classroom’s work and financial reports and exchanged views on the future cooperation between Maryknoll School and BFLS.

Lin Weimin, assistant to the BFSU president and president of BFLS, said the two institutions attach great importance to the construction and development of the Confucius Classroom.

Lin looks forward to expanding exchanges and cooperation with Maryknoll School based on the online study tour project it initiated with BFLS and promoting the enhancement of future-oriented basic education. 

Jin Limin, director of the Office of Confucius Institutes at BFSU, recognized the achievements made by the Confucius Classroom and expressed his expectations for future cooperation among the three parties. Jin also put forward suggestions for their collaboration. 

Zhang Jijun, secretary of BFLS’s general Party branch, explained the school’s primary education project planning and received a positive response from Maryknoll School.

As the only Confucius Classroom in the United States built by BFSU and the first and only Chinese immersion program jointly operated by Maryknoll School, BFSU and BFLS in Hawaii, the classroom is committed to facilitating basic education in Hawaii and providing projects and services related to Chinese language and culture.
