Confucius Institute at UT holds 8th Council Meeting

The 8th Council Meeting of the Confucius Institute at the University of Tirana (UT) was held on Oct 28. 

Bernard Dosti, vice-rector of UT, Jia Wenjian, deputy secretary of the CPC committee of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and vice-president of the university, Ke Jing, dean of the School of European Languages and Cultures, Jin Limin, director of the Office of Confucius Institutes at BFSU, Zhang Xiaoying and Erion Malaj, directors of the Confucius Institute and other representatives attended the online meeting.

Dosti affirmed the development of the Confucius Institute under the joint efforts of both parties, and said he hopes to witness diversified cooperation between BFSU and UT.

Jia thanked Artan Hoxha, rector of UT, for his congratulations on the 80th anniversary of BFSU. He also thanked both Chinese and Albanian staff for their efforts and spoke highly of the accomplishments achieved by the institute in Chinese teaching, image building and talent training, and in boosting communications between the two universities. He said BFSU will support CIUT’s development as always and facilitate cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Attendees deliberated over CIUT’s work report for the past year and looked at work plans for next year. They also discussed UT’s requirements for building up a department of Chinese literature, and exchanged views on academic exchanges and personnel training between the two universities. 

The Confucius Institute at UT opened on Nov 18, 2013. It is the only Confucius Institute established in the Republic of Albania.
