BFSU hosts CAST training class for international organization competence

China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), China Centre for International Science and Technology Exchange (CISTE) and Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) launched a training class on Oct 10 to help international organization employees and reserve personnel perform their duties.

Representatives from CISTE, CAST, BFSU and the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) attended the opening ceremony. Sixty CAST members participated in the training.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Luo Hui, director of CISTE.

Wang Jinzhan, a member of the CPC leadership group and executive secretary of the Secretariat of CAST, extended a welcome and thanked BFSU and attendees for their contributions and support. He said he hopes participants will undertake historical missions, pinpoint current tasks, remedy shortcomings and improve their ability to perform their duties in world organizations.

 “We are willing to work with scientific and technological workers to carry out in-depth academic exchanges and cooperation, attract more talents, and play a more active role in global science and technology governance,” Wang said.

Jia Wenjian, deputy secretary of the CPC BFSU committee and vice-president of the university, said that since the establishment of the International Organization Competence Center, it has undertaken training programs hosted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Civil Aviation Administration of China and CAST, and has received wide acclaim. 

Jia expressed his gratitude for the trust and support of CAST, introduced the history and traditions of BFSU, summarized BFSU’s successful experience in the training of international talents over the past 10 years and spoke about its cooperation with international organizations. 

He considered the cooperation between BFSU and CAST as a useful exploration for the university to help scientific and technological workers actively participate in global scientific and technological governance and serve the development of this field. Jia said he expected that the two sides can continue to collaborate in personnel training for international organizations.
