Established in 1941, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) is China's first institution of higher education to specialize in foreign languages. The university held a ceremony to celebrate its 80th anniversary on Sept 26, 2021. BFSU leaders and guest representatives delivered speeches. Alumni were present to celebrate the birthday of their alma mater. Below are some of the birthday wishes sent by the alumni.

Zhang Zhongzai (Class of 1950): “I hope BFSU becomes even more glorious and nurtures more outstanding talents.”

Ma Rong (Class of 1971): “A person at 80 is old, but the 80-year-old BFSU is in its prime. I hope we BFSUers will be forever young and make continuous contributions to China's diplomacy and foreign trade.”

Mao Wei (Student of 2020): “I want to say "happy birthday" to BFSU. I hope I can realize my full potential during my study at BFSU and make contributions to the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.”

The celebration included conferences and forums, lectures and performances. A collective wedding-style, commemorative event for married couples who are alumni was also held as part of the celebration.
