Yang explained the progress BFSU has made throughout its 80 years of development and spoke highly of Ames’s contributions in the fields of Chinese and Western comparative philosophy, Sino-foreign cultural exchanges and the international dissemination of Confucianism, and thanked him for his concern and support for the university.

Yang said promoting Chinese culture to the world has always been an important part of BFSU’s global strategy. The university hopes to cooperate with Ames and his team in the fields of global language, culture and governance, jointly promote the construction of a world sinologist base, train more talents, and make greater contributions to mutual understanding between China and foreign countries.

Ames congratulated BFSU on its 80th anniversary and reviewed his history with the university. He pointed out that BFSU has unique advantages in multilingual construction and international exchanges.

“BFSU plays an active role in cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and has made great achievements,” Ames said.

Ames said the establishment of the Academy of International Communication of Chinese Culture and the construction of a world sinologist base with the ICA have had great significance in integrating resources and connecting China with the world.

The two sides also exchanged views on promoting dialogue between Chinese and foreign civilizations and spreading traditional Chinese culture to the world.
