Beiwai College has been committed to nurturing international talent urgently needed by the country and piloting the reform in the cultivation mechanism of top multi-lingual and cross-disciplinary talent since its establishment in 2017.

Beiwai College enrolled undergraduate students in English (international organizations), diplomacy (international organizations and global governance) and finance (international organizations and global governance) in 2018, English (international organizations) in 2019 and 2020, and English (international organizations and global governance) in 2021.

So far, there are 155 undergraduate students ranging from their first year to the fourth year in Beiwai College.

Beiwai College has invited a number of prominent professionals from home and abroad to give their classes to students and act as linguistic advisors as well as tutors on extracurricular activities and taken great efforts to hire young excellent scholars and experts with international reputation across the world to conduct instructions on international politics, international economy, international journalism & communication, and the management of international development in English and French.

Its experimental class has piloted multiple initiatives, which include independent entrance examinations, pre-fixed education for university foundation year, open courses selection system and movement-style management mechanism, and made exploration in the cultivation mechanism of bilingual (English and French) and cross-disciplinary talent for global governance on the basis of such majors as foreign language literature, politics, economics, journalism & communication, management science and law.

The Graduate School in Beiwai College championed to build a partnership with the School of International Organizations, the School of International Relations and Diplomacy, International Business School and the School of International Journalism & Communication in September 2020 in the integrated education for both undergraduate students and graduate students at Beijing Foreign Studies University in a move to explore more channels for their independent, diversified and high-level growth.

Targets

Students are expected to master English, be familiar with French, acquire professional knowledge in international politics, international economics and international journalism & communication, boast sound practical skills, have international outlook and the sense of mission to care about the country and contribute personal efforts to sustainable development of the world, and be able to engage in global governance as high-end and comprehensive talent.

Requirements

1. Qualification: Students should have a firm political stance, high moral integrity, fine humanistic quality and sound inter-personal communication skills, along with the sense of mission to care about the country and international outlook. They are also expected to have noble ideals in the participation in the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.

2. Professional knowledge: Students should master English, familiarize them with French, have integrated knowledge in international politics, international economics, and international journalism & communication, and be aware of China's responsibilities, major elements and paths for the country to engage in international governance.

3. Competence: Students should have sound abilities and skills in cross-cultural communication, team cooperation, planning and organization, innovation and persistent learning.
